At St. Viator School everyone uses computers. There are computers in every classroom, the Research Center in the library and the well equipped Computer Lab. Everyone from Eighth grade to Pre-3 uses the Lab.

The Lab started with Apple IIE computers. In 1994 they were switched to Macs. We now have fifteen Macs. The lab was one of the first areas in the school that went on-line. It took over three years to get all of the school on-line. Rewiring a building that is almost one hundred years old in some parts was quite a job!

Our wonderful teacher in the Computer Lab is Mr. Cirone, whom most people call Mr. C. He has worked in the lab for 14 years. The technology and the software has changed rapidly over the years.

The Early Childhood grades learn about how to use a mouse and how to click and drag. Their favorite programs are Kid Pics and Sammy's Science House. New Thomas the Tank software has recently been purchased.

Keyboarding starts in the Third grade. It is practiced through out the grade levels. Some of our students can do the entire alphabet in order in 2.5 seconds!

In the intermediate grades Microsoft Word is taught. Students learn to do projects using Power Point and Hyper Studio. Seventh and Eighth grades are currently using Power Point to do a project to put an object in motion.

Our current fundraiser that St. Viator is using to help purchase new software is "Computers for Education". Please participate and help us keep our favorite spot in the school updated.
