St. Viator Celebrates World Food Day

Food for everyone

Did you know that 1 billion people go hungry in the world each day? Or that the 3 richest people in the world make more money than the gross domestic product of 48 developing countries combined? These are just some facts that the students learned at our all school prayer service to commemorate World Food Day.

The children and faculty gathered in the lunch room on October 15th to commemorate World Food Day. We know that we are called by God to serve those in need. Isaiah tells us to share our bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into our homes. (Isaiah 58:6) In solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world we gathered to learn about hunger around the world and to pray and gather food for those in need.

The children served as readers and prayer leaders. Under the direction of our music teacher, Mr. Glenn, they beautifully lifted their voices in song to the Lord. Thanks to the students we were able to donate much needed food to the local Irving Park Food Pantry.
