Fraction Pumpkin Bread

The 6 grade at St. Viator School had more than a normal math class.

On November 20, 2009 the 6 grade at St. Viator School had more than a normal math class. That day we baked Fraction Pumpkin Bread. Before we could get to actually eating the bread we had to find the recipe by changing improper fractions to mixed numbers and by simplifying fractions.. We had to find the right amount of each ingredient and triple the recipe so we would have enough ingredients for the whole class.

After we did that we went in three groups. One group worked with Mrs. Johnson, one with Mrs. Brick or Mrs. Ang. They helped us prepare and bake the bread. Everybody had a great time with the activity. We got our hands dirty because of all the ingredients we used . That's why it was so fun .

After we mixed the ingredients we put the bread in the oven to bake for 45min. While the bread was baking we went to the library to wait. After the 45min were done the bread was ready to eat. It was a fun and an educational math class . The bread was warm, soft, and tasty. MMMmmmm.
