We believe in educating students using the latest technology.
We truly pride ourselves on keeping classrooms up-to-date and giving students access to the latest technology. In addition to our Computer Lab where computer classes are held, there are computers in every classroom, in the Library, and in a separate Research Lab.
Projectors; laptops, SMART Boards and Mimio Technology are used throughout the school
SMART Boards are interactive whiteboards are used as replacements for traditional whiteboards or flipcharts. They provide ways to show students anything that can be presented on a computer's desktop (educational software, web sites, and others).
Mimio technology converts an existing whiteboard into an interactive whiteboard. The compact Mimio infrared sensor is attached to the side of a board, which tracks the included stylus pen 87 times per second, so users can write or use it as a mouse. It is designed to be easily portable, so it can be moved from classroom to classroom. The software is enables the creation of lessons, drawing, typing, annotations and the importing of video, sound and Flash files.
Employing this technology makes learning very fun and interactive for our students!
Computer class is a part of our curriculum from Preschool through Eighth grade. The following sections describe what is covered in each grade. Students in grades 3 to 8 practice their keyboarding in every computer class for 2 – 5 minutes and are timed each grading period. When they are timed, they must type the whole alphabet A to Z exactly without looking at their keyboards.
