St. Viator Sixth Grade
Shares Time, Talent, Treasure
The sixth graders at St. Viator School have been quite active in sharing their gifts with fellow students and those in need. As part of our Thanksgiving prayer service the students participated in a dramatization of Luke's gospel about the ten lepers. The theme of the gospel, which is to remember to take time to thank God for all we have, was very appropriate for celebrating Thanksgiving. In addition all students, including the sixth grade, collected food for the needy. Over 800 items will be donated to a local food pantry. During religion and math class, the students worked on activities to raise awareness about hunger in our community and around the world.
As Advent begins, we are preparing for the birth of Jesus! The children are responsible for helping organize and carry out a weekly prayer service for grades 4-6. It is a time to gather, light the advent wreath, and reflect on the meaning of Christmas. The children have volunteered to be readers and to lead us in song during our Advent journey. In addition each student received a Jesse Tree activity sheet and donation envelope from Solidarity Bridge. They will prepare for Christmas by using the activity sheets at home and contributing to this mission that raises much needed funds for Bolivian children and their families.
