Last week the St. Viator Elementary School Eighth Grade class launched their “Generations” community building initiative. The students, led by Eighth Grade Homeroom Teacher Mrs. Bloom, are connecting with parishioners from the Sts. Viator and Wenceslaus Church over coffee and refreshments.
Three parishioners joined the students to share their connections to St. Viator Elementary School and to the Sts. Viator and Wenceslaus Parish. The class brought prepared questions to guide the conversation. Father Benjamin Arevalos, Parish Pastor, joined the group as well, offering his input to the questions and sharing some of his family’s dynamics. Good conversation made for a warm visit, despite the frigid cold of the morning.
Watching the Generations session brought to mind the themes of accompaniment, fellowship, community, and connection. These are great themes for the Eighth Grade students to think about as they prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation.
The Eighth Grade class is planning to host Generations in the Parish Hall on the first Wednesday of each month. Refreshments will be ready by 9:00AM, right after the morning Mass. Please check back on the St. Viator Elementary School website (https://www.stviatorchicago.org/) or Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stviatorchicago) for updates and details. If you are a parishioner of Sts. Viator and Wenceslaus, or if you know of someone who would enjoy sharing time with St. Viator students, please join us!
We are Peace Builders; We are Eagles; We are St. Viator!
