In Illinois, October is National Principal Appreciation Month. This week, October 20th through October 26th, is Principal Appreciation Week. Friday, October 25th is officially Principal Appreciation Day. This is the perfect time to say "Thank You!" to our Principal, Dr. Lisa Rieger!
To share some history, Dr. Rieger joined St. Viator Elementary School in July of 2018. Since that first school year, Dr. Rieger has ushered the school through the Covid pandemic, old building dramas, continued changes in our Chicago neighborhoods, and leadership changes in our Parish.
Dr. Rieger's career in education spans many areas. She was a teacher before joining school administration as a school marketer. Then, she continued working to become a Principal. Dr. Rieger stays current on Educational Technology ("EdTech") tools, working with Mr. Bangiola to discover the best software to benefit St. Viator students. At the same time, she champions reading and paper books to balance the learning equation. She is a proponent of professional development, as evidenced by her own growth. Since joining St. Viator, she earned her Master's Degree, then her Doctorate of Education, going from "Mrs." to "Dr."!
Dr. Rieger is quick to share that she attended Catholic Schools, which started her appreciation for a Catholic School education. Her own children also attended Catholic Schools, so she is aware of the life choices that a Catholic School education requires. As a mother to four children, she also knows the parent side of the elementary school experience. With all of this in mind, Dr. Rieger works hard to make the St. Viator students feel loved, cared for, and nurtured in our school.
Ever faithful to the school motto that "We believe in developing the Mind, Body, and Soul", Dr. Rieger has embraced existing school programs like intramural sports and social activities, while searching for additional enrichment activities for students. She shares her faith and knowledge with students, promoting their own relationship with Jesus.
Dr. Rieger contributes to St. Viator Elementary School in so many ways, both small and large. Please take time this week to thank Dr. Rieger for her hard work on behalf of our school and our students. Let's show our appreciation with cards, hand-shakes, and well-wishes!
Thank you Dr. Rieger - we appreciate you!
We are Peace Builders; We are Eagles; We are St. Viator!
