Reverence for Mother Mary

St. Viator Elementary School Students paid reverence to Mary with a May Crowning ceremony, making this week's Class Mass particularly special.

Amelia, one of our graduating 8th graders, was the May Queen. She was joined by Millie, the May Crowning Attendant, from the Second Grade.

The 8th Grade collected and offered roses to the statue of Mary.

Millie brought the crown to Amelia, who bestowed it on our statue of Mary.

Father Michael presided over Mass and led the crowning ceremony. Dr. Rieger made sure everything went smoothly.

Father Michael explained that May Crowning ceremonies demonstrate our respect and love for Mary. He preached about Mary saying "yes" to God's will in acting as the vessel for Jesus, and encouraged students to find ways to say yes to God. Mary is Jesus' mother and mother to all of the faithful. Crowned as the Queen of Heaven, she intercedes on our behalf.

This was the last Class Mass for the 8th grade students. They are spending the next days preparing for Graduation on June 1st.

Mother of us all...pray for us!
Mother of us all...pray for us!

Our thanks go out to Ms. Murphy, Mrs. Bloom, Dr. Rieger, and Father Michael for making the May Crowning a beautiful addition to Mass. Thank you to our 2nd and 8th grade students for participating in the May Crowning with reverence. And thank you to all of the family, friends, and parishioners who joined in the celebration as one community. May the Holy Mother keep us all in her blessed care.

We are Peace Builders; We are Eagles; We are St. Viator!
