'26-'27 Generations Coffee Meet-Up

2 min read

In February 2023, our 8th Grade Homeroom Teacher, Mrs. Bloom, introduced the “Generations” initiative to connect her students with older members of the SS. Viator and Wenceslaus Parish. Everyone gathered in the Parish Hall to enjoy light refreshments and each others' company. We are pleased to share that this tradition continues today - the 8th Grade Class is again hosting Generations meet-ups!

The Event

Generations meets after Mass on the lower level of the St. Viator church. Guests are invited to attend Mass, then head to the Parish Hall for light refreshments. Mrs. Bloom often sets out questions to start the conversations. The setting is informal and familiar to feel more like a visit than a project.

Conversation and Connection

Generations attendees are primarily extended family members and Wednesday morning Parishioners. Attendees get a chance to share their experiences and life lessons, and students get to learn from their stories. Hosting the "guests" helps the students broaden their understanding of service and grow an appreciation for accompaniment.

.

These conversations are a great chance for the 8th grade students to see their lives and their faith from a different perspective.

Jack, from the 8th grade, shared that he understands the point of the meet-ups is to learn from every generation. For him, the "cool stories" are the best part. His classmate, Alia, shared how she enjoys "talking to people and learning how [they] lived when they were younger."

Generations Attendees

This year, attendees to the first session included school parents and grandparents, parishioners, and Father Benjamin! Generations is a unique connection for our school and Parish communities. Jo Ann, an avid supporter, shared,

"The first Wednesday of the month is a highlight for me because I truly enjoy attending Generations. The eighth graders are articulate and have such wonderful stories about their families, their interests, and their goals. It’s a joy to witness their kindness and sense of humor. They are great conversationalists and show interest in their guests. What I stand in awe of the most is their integrity and values. They are wonderful role models for the younger students. I appreciate the opportunity attending Generations gives me to get to know them  better."

Moving into the Year

Our thanks go out to all supporters of Mrs. Bloom and Generations, and especially to Father Benjamin and Dr. Calko for their continued support. Check back - we will continue to highlight Generations as the school year progresses! The conversations continue on the first Wednesday of each month at the St. Viator Church Site. Join us for the 8:15AM Mass, stay for Generations!

Whenever I visit a new gaming website, I first check whether the account section is easy to understand. While exploring the Goa game login page, I would look at the placement of the login fields, the instructions, and the available help options. A clean layout can make navigation less confusing, especially for mobile users. I also believe checking the official website address and account security information is important before entering any personal details or trying to access an account.
