Welcome Dr. Calko!

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Sheila Calko, Ed.D, as the new principal of St. Viator Elementary School!

Dr. Calko brings extensive school leadership experience to St. Viator Elementary School, having served in administrative roles across Catholic, urban public, and suburban schools in Illinois and Ohio. She most recently served as Interim Assistant Principal of Academics at Our Lady of Tepeyac High School in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood. There, she led curriculum mapping, instructional coaching, and academic programming initiatives.

Prior to school administration, Dr. Calko taught Social Studies at The School for Human Rights in New York City and at Ursuline High School in Youngstown, Ohio. These experiences grounded her deep commitment to equity, student voice, and academic excellence.

Dr. Calko is a Youngstown, Ohio, native, and moved to Chicago last Fall. She holds an Ed.D. in Leadership for Organizations from the University of Dayton, an M.A. in Teaching of Social Studies from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a B.S. in Secondary Education from Youngstown State University. She holds an Illinois Professional Educator License with Principal Endorsement.

She is passionate about academic excellence, nurturing the whole child, and building school communities rooted in faith, belonging, and service. An active parishioner at Queen of All Saints Basilica, she lives in Jefferson Park with her husband and children and is honored to join the St. Viator Community.

Dr. Calko shares in her Principal Letter, "This is an exciting moment to be part of St. Viator. Together, we have the opportunity to build on a century of legacy while shaping a modern, thriving, and sustainable future for the next hundred years of students."

Join us in welcoming Dr. Calko to St. Viator Elementary School! Father Benjamin will introduce her to the Parish Community on Saturday, August 8th. Come for the 5PM Mass, and stay for a reception afterwards. All SS Viator and Wenceslaus Parishioners are invited, all friends of St. Viator Elementary School are welcome. Join Us!
