The Brownson Council #1030 Knights of Columbus hosted their 31st Annual Spelling Bee Contest on February 28 at the St. Viator Rec Center.
Students from the 5th through the 8th grades participated in classroom spelling contests; the top 3 spellers from each grade earned a spot in last night's bee.
Eleven St. Viator students participated in the competition. After 5 rounds, the field was narrowed to the top 3 spellers, qualifying them for the Regional Spelling Bee Contest.
Our thanks go out to the attending Knights of Columbus: Tom Kaiser, Richard Holmgren, Dan Tucci, and William O'Donnell. Thank you for hosting and judging the event!
Thank you also to Dr. Rieger and Mr. Slawik, our school representatives and logistics coordinators. Mr. Slawik once again served as the official "pronouncer", announcing the words to the competitors.
Congratulations to the top three finishers - 1st: Madelyn Ton (5th), 2nd: Amelia Teeple (5th), and 3rd: Donna Tisdale (8th)! These three students now advance to the Knights of Columbus Regional Spelling Bee Contest on March 11 in LaGrange, IL. We know you will make St. Viator proud!
We are Peace Builders; We are Eagles; We are St. Viator: S-T-V-I-A-T-O-R, ST. VIATOR!
