Ash Wednesday

This past Wednesday, St. Viator students joined Catholics across the world in receiving ashes and beginning Lent. Kindergarten through 8th grade students attended a prayer service with our Associate Paster, Father Michael.

Later that morning, Father Michael visited the Preschool classrooms to give ashes, and explanation, to our youngest learners.

Students have listened to the readings all week describing how to pray, fast, and give alms. We will keep the focus on these practices during Lent, and encourage our families to continue them even after Easter. Some families give something up for Lent (sweets, or chocolate), others add something new (like praying the rosary). How will your family prepare for Easter over the next forty days?

Ash Wednesday was a busy day for the SS Viator & Wenceslaus Parish. There were Masses and Prayer Services at both Church Sites, keeping Father Benjamin and Father Michael busy all day. We are grateful for their hard work, particularly for Father Michael ministering directly to the students, and especially for his visits with the Preschool classes.
We wish you all a prayerful Lenten season. May God bless your Easter preparation.
