Friday Faculty Feature #1

We are wrapping up week three with our first “Friday Faculty Feature”. Today we highlight a staff member who has been at St. Viator Elementary School for many years, making sure students eat well to fuel their learning. Mrs. Alice Martinez is our Food Service Coordinator and the liaison with our hot lunch company, Food Service Provider (FSP). "Ms. Alice" has worked with the St. Viator lunch program for 24 years. She likes the family feel at St. Viator and enjoys making sure our students get fed!

Ms. Alice has two children, school alumni at that! Her daughter visited last year when we opened the Y2K Time Capsule (packed by her class when she was in 8th grade).

At home, she enjoys cooking, and has a hidden talent for it. When it’s time to eat, she enjoys Mexican food the most. She has done some travelling during her life, making it all the way to the Cayman Islands. She is happily married to her husband, a retired Chicago Firefighter. Ms. Alice expressed gratitude for her good life and "for making it to the fourth quarter of [her] happy life”.

Even though Ms. Alice's Birthday is in January, her favorite holiday is Halloween. Her season is coming! Her favorite colors are pink and Tiffany Blue, and black, of course. Her favorite book is Love You Forever, and her favorite author is Nicolas Sparks. Her favorite drink to start the morning is a cup of coffee.

Ms. Alice spends most days in and around the kitchen and cafeteria. She always checks in with Ms. Heidi, a work companion for many years. Ms. Alice said Ms. Heidi is her hero, “for all that she does with the library and the kids.” Yep, we agree with Ms. Alice here.

Ms. Alice would like all of our families to know that she is here to help if we need anything - don’t be afraid to ask her. Pro Tip: She does recommend that parents print out their hot lunch orders so students know what they will be eating each day.
