First Holy Communion

We are celebrating the 2025 St. Viator First Communicants, the students who took Holy Communion for the first time this past weekend! They joined with Religious Education Students, over 180 children total, for the Sacrament.

Their preparation started earlier this school year, and intensified in January. Students spent time on retreat just before the weekend, gathering in the St. Viator Church as well as the Rec Center. Father Ben joined the group to talk about the Altar and the Tabernacle, and explain the reverence that Catholics show the Holy Eucharist.

Mr. B and Dr. Rieger continued the retreat in the Rec Center. There, students continued their preparation with Communion-themed crafts and activities. Parents supported the retreat, lending a hand and accompanying the students.

Saturday was a beautiful day, aligning everyone with the lovely celebration. Families gathered around their Communicants and bore witness to their sacrament.

Father Ben celebrated Mass and administered the First Holy Communion to the Communicants.

St. Viator Students complete Sacramental preparation in school, as part of their Religion Class. In Second Grade, students prepare for Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, while Eighth Grade Students prepare for their Confirmation. School families don't need to enroll in additional Religious Education classes. Also, we are happy to assist families looking to celebrate Sacraments that they have not yet completed, like Baptism. Most of the communicants were in second grade, but there were students in other grades as well, getting "caught up" with their First Holy Communion. Please contact the Main Office if you have questions about Sacramental Preparation and completion at St. Viator Elementary School.

Congratulations to all of our First Communicants and their families!

We are Peace Builders; We are Eagles; We are St. Viator!
